The words below are not
included in the elevator installation work and should be carried
out by building contractor in accordance with our drawing, relevant
to international or local codes and regulations. |
| HOISTWAY |
| 1. Construction; (Before Fitting of the
Elevator) |
The construction of the hoist way shall
be undertaken by the building contractor as per our layout drawings.
However the civil work shall confirm to all the IS specification
and local codes and regulations in force.
• The construction of the hoist way shall be in 150 mm RCC
or a coloumn-beam structure with a 230 mm brick wall. Hollow blocks
are not allowed.
• Waterproof work inside pit (including drainage if necessary).
• Provision of pit ladder which should be at least 1000mm over
the lowest floor level.
• Suitable ventilation and cover to prevent rodent, birds,
animals and dust from entering the hoist way.

Dry and flat pit of proper depth shall be provided
and reinforced to sustain normal impact loads from buffer.
• Plumb line tolerance over the whole hoist way height must
not exceed ± 25 mm.
• One front hoist way wall at the ground floor level is not
to be constructed until after all the door frames are in place.
• All door opening shall be rough finished as per dimensions.
• Provision of proper scaffolding before starting of fitting
the elevator.
• Painting the hoist way.
• Lighting in the shaft way & pit. |
| II CIVIC WORK; (During the Fitting of
the Elevator) |
• All cutting, including cut outs to accommodate
hall signal fixtures, patching.
• Chipping and cutting at door entrances for sills and door
frames.
• Finishing work like cladding of stone (if required) and plastering
after the door frames are fixed. This shall be done before fitting
of the doors.

• Buffer Blocks-RCC or brick work before fixing
of buffer springs in the pit.
• Plastering or cladding the hall button frames and finishing
before fitting the landing operating panels or displays.
• Repainting the hoist way and door entrances. |
| MACHINE ROOMS |
• The machine room slab shall have the
cutouts as per our civil drawings. These cutouts shall be properly
plaster finished.
• The machine room slab shall be designed for strength as per
our specification depending on type of elevator to be installed.
• I-Beams (for mounting the machine) shall be provided & fitted
by the contractor under the supervision of our technician during
fitting of the elevator.
• Lifting beam or hooks shall be provided on the ceiling for
hoisting and transfer of heavy equipment.

• An entrance of 1200 mm wide x 2100 mm height
with provision of a two panel’s lockable door shall be provided.
• Proper ventilation to maintain the
temperatures between 30°C and 50°C is legally required. Relative
humidity should not exceed 92% (monthly) and 95% (daily) non-condensing.
• If required noise insulation should be installed between
the machine room and adjacent residential areas.
• Proper suitable fluorescent lighting and a wall mounted fan
for air circulation and an exhaust fan with cover in the machine
room.

| ELECTRICAL |
• A three phase, four wire electrical feeder
in the machine Room.
• Two independent suitable grounding conductors for the machine
and control panel.
• A main switch fuse unit or a suitable MCCB in the machine
room to isolate the main control panel of the elevator.

• A 15 Amp power supply for using hand tools
and a 5 Amp power supply for lighting.
• Fire detectors shall be provided for all commercial installation
like malls, office buildings, cinema halls, hospitals etc.
• Uninterrupted Power supply is to be provided throughout the
installation.
NOTE: No power cables shall go through the shaft way.

| MISCELLANEOUS |
• Hoist way and machine rooms shall
be free from dust and harmful gas.
• The hoist way shall be cleared of all malba, water, and dust
and handed over clean before starting of the fitting.
• A secured area for storage of elevator equipment and materials
shall be provided
• Hoist way entrances shall be protected from general public
or other construction labour or building personnel. |
